Start your journey into Microsoft Security

The definition of the workplace drastically changed to accommodate the new normal. Over 16% of companies globally now are working fully remotely and 62% of the employees aged 22 to 65 worldwide are working away from their office at least occasionally. This brings new challenges for security professionals all over the world. Cyberattacks ranging from ransomware to state cyberwarfare are now part of everyday news. This of course leads to a higher demand for professionals in cybersecurity and there is a global shortage of qualified people.

The projections are that between 2020 and 2025 there will be over 7 million new jobs in security worldwide versus around 4.2 million trained candidates for those positions. This makes the field of Cyber Security great for discovering new career opportunities.

How to get started?

The first thing you need to pursue a career in the field is a solid plan. We are here to help you no matter if you are just starting your learning path in Microsoft Security or looking to expand your knowledge.

If you want to get to know what Microsoft has to offer in terms of Security the perfect start for you will be SC-900: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals. This course and the following certification are targeted

toward students, business users, or IT professionals looking for broader knowledge of the concepts of security, compliance, and identity (SCI), access management, and Microsoft Security Solutions. The certification can be considered a stepping stone towards advancing to role-based certifications in information protection. Once you pass the exam there is no expiration date on your certification – it is here to stay.

On the topic of role-based certifications, the next one you might want to check (or the first if you are already familiar with the fundamentals) is SC-200 Microsoft Security Operations Analyst. This course is for IT

professionals working with stakeholders to secure information technology systems for their organization and reduce security threats. You will learn how to use Microsoft 365 Defender, Azure Defender, and Azure Sentinel.

Another role-based course that might be suitable for anyone looking for advanced knowledge in the field of Microsoft Security is SC-300 Microsoft Identity And Access Administrator. This course and certification are best

suited for IT Professionals designing and implementing the identity and access management systems for their organizations.

If you are looking to expand your knowledge in Cloud Security, the best course will be AZ-500 Microsoft Azure Security Technologies. A course dedicated to implementing security controls and threat protection,

managing identity and access, and protecting data, applications, and networks in cloud and hybrid environments.
